Of course, 2012 was the year of the London Olympics, so the Arty Farties organised a day of sporty(ish) activities on the Rec; we also had The Rudes, and we purchased a projector, sound system and large screen to set up Crowhurst Community Cinema following on from the previous popularity of films in the Village Hall…
Crowhurst Games – 7 July 2012
To mark the London Olympics, we had a day of all sorts of sporting activities, including archery, welly throwing, races and short mat bowling.
The Crowhurst Games attracted nearly 300 people to the Rec for an afternoon of tasters for sports they may not have considered participating in before, together with demonstrations and competitions in various others. It also gave the village’s sports organisations an opportunity to show off their sport and seek new recruits, very much in tune with the legacy ambitions of the 2012 Olympics.
We are very grateful to the Battle Partnership and Active Sussex for their financial support which made the Games possible.
